Important limitations.
These terms are an agreement between you and Food Checker Labs, LLC (“FoodChecker,” “we” or “us”) for use of the FoodChecker website and iPhone app. FoodChecker is an independent informational service—not a government agency, official recall authority, medical provider or emergency service. By using FoodChecker you agree to these terms. Effective October 5, 2026.
Independent informational service
FoodChecker summarizes and organizes reviewed public records. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or certified by FDA, USDA, CDC, retailers or manufacturers. Those organizations do not review or approve FoodChecker’s summaries or matching results.
Sources and coverage
Source publications may be delayed, revised, incomplete, archived or unavailable, and FoodChecker may not identify every recall, outbreak, advisory, product, retailer or affected location. FoodChecker covers a selected set of reviewed records, not every recall. The linked original notice remains controlling.
Matching is not an official determination
FoodChecker’s matching logic compares information supplied by users with available reviewed records. A confirmed, possible or absent match is a FoodChecker result—not an agency determination, laboratory test or certification that a product is safe. No matching recall found does not mean a product is safe.
Verify official guidance
Before consuming, returning or discarding a product, review the linked agency, manufacturer or retailer notice and follow its current instructions. Entering incomplete or inaccurate package information may affect a result.
Recall alert limitations
Recall alerts depend on available records, saved package details, human review, system operation and successful delivery. Notifications may be delayed, incomplete, duplicated or not delivered. Do not rely on FoodChecker alerts as your only source of recall information.
No medical advice or emergency service
FoodChecker does not diagnose illness, test products or provide medical advice. Contact a qualified healthcare professional about symptoms. Call emergency services for an emergency.
Your account
You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your sign-in methods secure. You may stop using FoodChecker and delete your account at any time from My FoodChecker settings. We may suspend or end access for misuse of the service.
Acceptable use and ownership
Do not misuse the service, interfere with its operation, scrape it at a disruptive volume or present FoodChecker results as official determinations. FoodChecker branding and original interface materials remain protected by applicable law.
Disclaimer of warranties
FoodChecker is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, Food Checker Labs, LLC disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, and does not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Food Checker Labs, LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from reliance on FoodChecker information, a recall result or an alert. Our total liability for any claim relating to FoodChecker will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the prior twelve months or fifty U.S. dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute relating to FoodChecker will be brought in the state or federal courts located in New York, and you and Food Checker Labs, LLC consent to their jurisdiction, unless applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
iPhone app
If you use the FoodChecker iPhone app, Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. These terms are between you and Food Checker Labs, LLC, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for FoodChecker or its content and has no obligation to provide support for it.
Changes to the service and these terms
FoodChecker may change, pause or discontinue features. We may update these terms as the service evolves; we will update the effective date and, for material changes, give notice in the app, on the website or by email when you have an account. Continuing to use FoodChecker after a change means you accept the updated terms.
